Davies Wear Plate Systems
"We have revolutionized the humble wear plate !!"
Solving Your Wear Plate Issues
With patented bolt designs and manufacturing methods, Davies Wear Plate Systems delivers cost effective solutions to all of the following problems:
- Frequent and costly shutdowns due to short plate life - SOLVED!
- Premature wear including grooving and tracking - SOLVED!
- Limited to using plate below 500 Brinell hardness due to traditional manufacturing methods - SOLVED!
- Extended shutdown times due to welding/oxy cutting for installation and removal of plates - SOLVED!
- Countersunk bolt heads wearing off before plate is fully worn - SOLVED!
- Crusher jams and belt damage due to failure of traditional plate fixing methods - SOLVED!
- Difficulties or OH&S issues associated with accessing or tightening nuts on bolts - SOLVED!
- Lengthy lead times on plate orders - SOLVED!
All of these problems cost valuable production time and significantly increase labour and material expenditure.

The Concept
The innovative wear-plate systems developed by Davies are based around the unique bolting system.
Features of the bolt design have many benefits with one of the most notable being the unique plate manufacturing method that it allows.
The bolt head shape does not require a countersunk hole to be drilled as it fits into a tapered hole which is the entire depth of the plate.
This shape hole can therefore be cut using a high definition plasma. The hardness of the plate is no longer an issue as is normally the case with countersunk bolt holes or stud welding.
The bolt design also allows the bolt face to sit flush with the plate surface eliminating the premature wear normally caused by countersunk bolt recesses.
Benefits
The features of the system all combine to increase production and reduce costs in the following ways:
- Hardest quench and tempered plate available (600 Brinell) or overlay plate can be used with no extra fabrication costs compared to softer plates
- No need for plug welding or stud welding
- The bolt and plate both wear at the same rate for the entire life of the plate
- Elimination in premature wear and tracking normally experienced with countersunk bolt hole recesses
- The plate remains fixed by the bolt until the plate is worn to its minimal structural thickness (the bolt head does not wear off prematurely)
- Faster alignment of holes during fitting of plates due to larger plate hole diameter
- Shorter lead times for supply of plates due to manufacturing methods
These advantages lead to:
- Significantly longer plate life
- Reduction in wear plate change out frequency
- Faster installation and removal of plates
- Dramatic reduction in loss of production from wear plate related shutdowns
- Reduction in material and labour costs
